Corncob husk breadstick basket

Corncob husk breadstick basket inspired by two fundamental foods of our table: corn (polenta) and bread; corn gives us the leaves intertwine endlessly and at the same time contains the bread and breadsticks.

The breadstick basket, result of the high craftsmanship of the production of the corncob husk, is an object for the kitchen but at the same time it can be a simple and effective furnishing accessory, suitable to also hold other objects. Dimensions of 34 x 9 x h 5 cm.

Possible imperfections or minor differences of the product compared to the photo indicate the high craftsmanship of a handmade product.
It is advisable not to wet the product to avoid damaging it.

PRODUCTION

This article belongs to the local tradition of working with leaves of the corncob; different craftsmen make incredible artefacts, ranging from objects for the home to accessories for women. This production is completely handmade and that nowadays remains alive in very few places, the scus (workings of the corncob leaf) had a great success and demand until a few decades ago. Today there are still several artisans from the Val del Torre area (in the province of Udine) who carry on this tradition and offer marvellous creations.

La Cort has chosen to offer these articles because they are deeply characteristic of the peasant economy of past times and yet at the same time have evolved so that they also offer objects for everyday use.
