Alpine in corncob husk

Alpine soldier handmade in corncob husk. Its suit remembers the first Alpine Itlian soldiers at the end of XIX century: green trousers and waistcoat on a checkered shirt. Accessories to complete the outfit: the typical hat with the feather, a small backpack and a wood walking stock. It stands on a natural elements base.

Perfect as decorative object and original gift idea. This original figure is born form the local experience of working with the leaves of the corncob. We are able to make a personalized offer for a min. order quantity.

The Alpine is an important tradional figure in our culture both for his soldier function and lately as rescuer. The national Alpine meeting in 2020 will be held on October in Rimini, while in 2021 the same event will take place in Udine (Friuli Venezia Giulia).

Possible imperfections or minor differences of the product compared to the photo indicate the high craftsmanship of a handmade product. It is recommended not to wet the product, to avoid damaging it.

HISTORY

A production that is completely handmade and that nowadays remains alive in very few places, the scus (workings of the corncob leaf) had a great success and demand until a few decades ago. Today there are still several artisans from the Val del Torre area (in the province of Udine) who carry on this tradition and offer marvellous creations.

La Cort has chosen to offer these articles because they are deeply characteristic of the peasant economy of past times and yet at the same time have evolved so that they also offer objects for everyday use.
